Vancouver, B.C.—Sierra Wireless is offering two new embedded modules—the MC8785V for HSPA networks, and the MC5727 for EV-DO Revision A networks.

The MC8785V is a voice-enabled module that offers a peak data speed of up to 7.2-Mbits/s on the downlink and 2.0-Mbits/s on the uplink (upgradeable to 5.76- Mbits/s). The MC8785V offers tri-band HSPA/UMTS support with receive diversity on all three frequency bands, as well as quad-band support for EDGE/GPRS/GSM. Since the MC8785V module is globally compatible, OEMs are able to concentrate development efforts on a single product for use in all global markets.

Voice enabled capability makes the MC8785V well-suited for fixed wireless terminals and portable handheld devices that require the ability to make voice calls.

The Sierra Wireless MC5727 embedded module includes the latest in EV-DO Revision A technology and supports upcoming feature enhancements, enabling OEM customers to future-proof devices currently in development for EV-DO Rev A networks.

The MC5727 offers peak data speeds of up to 3.1-Mbits/s on the downlink and up to 1.8 Mbits/s on the uplink.
