Chelmsford, MA — Hittite Microwave Corporation has released the first product within its new Interface Product Line — a digital interface product that is ideal for applications within the digital control sections of military EW, test & measurement equipment, and multi-function assemblies from DC to 110 GHz.

The HMC677LP5(E) 6-Bit Serial/Parallel Switch Driver/Controller is a multi-function BiCMOS control interface IC which is ideal for driving the gates of FET and pHEMT based MMIC control devices. This IC can be used to simplify the control of microwave and millimeterwave transmit/receive modules, military subsystems, and multi-throw/multi-port test and measurement equipment. It accepts TTL/CMOS logic data, in either 3-wire SPI or parallel format, and can drive up to 6 complementary sets of parallel outputs.
The HMC677LP5(E) provides additional functionality such as a power-up state selection, adjustable output voltage levels, and a latched parallel input mode which allows multiple switch driver/controllers to share a common parallel data bus. The digital interface IC is ideal for controlling MMIC based digital phase shifters, digital attenuators, digital variable gain amplifiers, and switching matrices embedded in complex microwave and millimeterwave assemblies.
The device is housed in a RoHS compliant 5x5 mm SMT leadless QFN package, and is ideal for driving the control ports of many of Hittite's broad line of control component die, SMT and modules which cover frequencies from DC to 110 GHz.
