Renaissance Electronics is showcasing their latest 18A7NF-1 8x8 MEMS switch matrix. Smaller in size than standard electromechanical switches, micro-electromechanical (MEMS) switches are rated at up to 100 billion cycles, have high cut-off frequencies, wide bandwidth operation, high linearity and very low power requirement.

The company now offers MEMS switches and switch matrices up to 3 GHz. The first offering is an 8x8 MEMS switch matrix (REC Part Number 18A7NF-1) which is ideal for telecommunications, testing and military and aerospace applications. This state of the art product incorporates 80 SPDT embedded MEMS switches in a small footprint measuring 19.94- x 18.87- x 7.11-cm (7.85- x 7.43- x 2.8-inches) with a life expectancy of greater than 100 billion cycles.

Key characteristics include a DC to 2.5 GHz frequency range, insertion loss of 6 dB, isolation of 40 dB, VSWR of 14:1 and a switching speed of under 50 µs.

A data sheet is available.
