Real-time spectrum analyser reveals multiple perspectives on combo device behaviour
Dean Miles, Tektronix
Over the course of two earlier articles in this series, we have examined the architecture and functions of real-time spectrum analysers (RTSA), a versatile class of benchtop RF instruments designed to address today's transient and complex RF phenomena. In this third and final article we will discuss the potential of the RTSA approach for solving problems in wireless "combo" devices.

First time right design of Class A power amplifiers using the novel power parameters
Ivan Boshnakov, Aerial Facilities
This article discusses and describes a procedure of how to design RF/ microwave Class A power amplifiers in a very efficient and highly accurate manner when the novel quasi-linear transistor power parameters are used. As in the earlier article, two software programs are used in conjunction and interaction: a specialised RF/microwave amplifier design software tool and a general purpose simulator (nodal analysis program). This time the simulator is not used for its nonlinear analysis capabilities but mostly for its integrated layout EM simulation capabilities.
