The Korean Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) has approved a distribution of a Wireless USB solution based on Wisair's WSR601 chip.

Together with regulatory approvals already received in the U.S., Japan and Europe, Wisair's solution now enables Wireless USB worldwide deployments with a single SKU (stock-keeping unit) model.

The Wisair solution approved for operation in Korea includes a Wireless USB adapter, and is based on the Wisair WSR601 CMOS single chip. Wisair's WSR601 technology is currently in production with several ODM partners with shipments to end consumers expected towards the end of this quarter.

"We are excited to be the first Wireless USB supplier to meet the UWB Korean regulation," said David Yaish, Wisair CEO. "On top of this, we understand that our OEM customers need to distribute a single hardware product to customers worldwide, regardless of the differences in regulatory emission requirements in different regions. Therefore, we have designed our chip to meet these requirements from the outset."

Wisair offers a range of Wireless USB reference designs implementing Native Wireless USB and Wire Adapter protocols. Using either USB or SDIO interfaces, these solutions enable a range of embedded and aftermarket Wireless USB products and offer the best combination of performance, price, and power consumption.
