The PAN1740 is a member of Panasonic's "Nanopower" family of second generation Bluetooth Low Energy modules that reduce power consumption by more than 66% when compared to the current generation of Bluetooth low Energy devices. Power consumption is 90% less than Bluetooth Classic devices.
The Panasonic PAN1740 draws only 5 mA in transmit or receive mode, allowing the use of coin cell batteries with no reduction of signal range or transmit power while still keeping to the Bluetooth BLE specification. It has a footprint of 9 x 9.5 x 1.8 mm. Receiver sensitivity is -93 dBm and output power is up to 0 dBm.
The module includes an embedded BLE stack and Generic Attribute (GATT) Profile. There are two internal crystal oscillators and an integrated antenna. It targets consumer applications as well as wireless sensors, cable replacement applications, instrumentation, heart rate monitors, and blood glucose meters.
