Video: MM-wave components and technologies for 5G

June 28, 2017 //By Jean-Pierre Joosting
In a presentation at the recent Interlligent RF & Microwave Seminar 2017, CEO Liam Devlin discusses potential millimetre-wave components and technologies that are likely to be used in future 5G applications.

Work is well under way on the design and development of the first mm-wave 5G demonstrator systems with the aim of delivering a network capable of providing massive capacity and negligible latency. Operation at mm-wave frequencies allows the use of much wider channel bandwidths and facilities achievement of the ambitious data rate targets set out by 5G.

The likely operating bands and the options and trends for the realisation of the mm-wave components are discussed, illustrated with examples of mm-wave components designed by Plextek RFI for deployment in the first mm-wave 5G demonstrator systems.
