Movandi and NXP look to mmWave to connect 5G everywhere
NXP Semiconductors N.V. and Movandi have formed a joint partnership to collaborate on millimeter wave (mmWave) for 5G networks.

NXP will contribute products from the Layerscape family of high-performance Arm®-based communications processing platforms and programmable baseband processing. Layerscape SoCs possess a common hardware and software architecture and are scalable in performance, power and cost. Hardware differentiation is provided by programmable acceleration and offloaded security. On the software side, NXP provides solution-level packages for specific applications including wireless, cloud, security and virtualization.

Movandi will bring its world-class RF design, beamforming capabilities, and high-receive sensitivity for 5G to the partnership.

According to Maryam Rofougaran, Co-CEO of Movandi, then technology partnership has allowed Movandi to develop the just released BeamXR 5G system, which delivers improvements in performance, coverage and latency to connect 5G everywhere. A key technology for the partnership, BeamXR solves the issue of 5G coverage limitations caused by the propagation characteristics of radio signals at 5G millimeter wave frequency bands and increases 5G coverage, while reducing infrastructure costs, simplifies deployment and increases network capacity, enabling new high-reliability, low-latency services.great deal of modularity and flexibility to help ensure that 5G and mmWave technology can be implemented across numerous use cases and deployment scenarios.
